Action for Children is a UK-wide children’s charity dedicated to ensuring every child and young person has a safe, happy childhood and the foundations they need to thrive. Their work is driven by love – stepping in when children, young people, and families face hardship, and campaigning tirelessly to create lasting change.
What they do:
Action for Children works in three key ways:
Intervention
They provide early help to children, young people, and families experiencing poverty, abuse, or violence, intervening before problems escalate.
Prevention
Through programmes like The Blues Programme, they teach life skills and build resilience so young people can grow up safely and confidently.
Advocacy
They run 342 services across the UK, supporting children, young people, and families in their local communities – including nurseries, online parenting support, foster care, and residential homes.
Their impact:
In the year 2024/25, Action for Children supported 551,400 children, young people, and families.
They maintain high standards of safeguarding, ensuring the wellbeing and protection of everyone they support.
They’re deeply committed to equality and inclusion, working to reflect and serve diverse communities and eliminate discrimination in all its forms.
They also take long-term responsibility for the environment: they have a carbon reduction roadmap and are working toward net-zero emissions by 2050.
